A RARE NAMEPLATE OF A DAIMLER BUILT FRIEDRICHSHAFEN GIIIa BOMBER

Two original postcard sized photos and a negative of a Friedrichshafen GIIIa bomber, with the original nameplate of a Daimler built Friedrichshafen GIIIa attached to one of the photos. Plate measures 8 x 2cm.

The photos, show allied, presumably Canadian soldiers, around the Friedrichshafen, suggesting the photo was dated just post war, when allied troops took over German airfields. The reverse of the post card with the plate attached has Friedrichshafen GIII written to its reverse but also sais ‘AEG’ which may indicate the types there were at the airfield.

This nameplate, along with a fabric cross from an AEG bomber (listed separately), came from the nephew of a Canadian soldier who brought it back from the war as a souvenir.
