A fine and rare example of the gilt Wing for Royal Navy Officer’s who were attached to the R.N.A.S. This example with two screw posts and retaining nuts to the reverse. Retains the often missing backing plate.
Only authorised for wear from January 1918, these wings were worn on the cuff of the Reefer jacket and the left breast of khaki land service tunic. This insignia was discontinued on the creation of the Royal Air Force ion 1 April 1918.
