A Very good original example of the 2nd pattern Brodie steel helmet worn by British soldiers during the Great War. The shell with original green painted/sand textured finish and the underside stamped HS 390 for Hadfield Ltd of Sheffield.
Complete with original oilcloth lining, this with Brodie stamp inside. Felt crown cushion present and complete showing a little moth. Upper strap stamped ‘6 7/8’, still with its paper instructions attached. Chinstrap is in good supple condition and has the name ‘McDougal’ inked onto it. This is very faint and their looks like there are other details but these are so faint they cannot be read.
An extremely good complete example of this iconic helmet.
