Helmet swivel bale type, unmarked, paint showing much combat wear. Chinstrap the brass buckle type. Liner with Westinghouse Electric Company stamp (W within circle) and D 29, dating this between 1942 and August 1945. Chinstrap at the left fixing has a tear and is fragile, bar this the liner is in excellent condition.
Reversible cover has a roughly painted red circle to both the front and rear on the darker side only. This red marking signifies it belonged to a member of shore party, who wore various forms of red markings of their helmets. It has no manufacturers or USMC markings, however the reverse of helmet cover has the numbers 2005583 stencilled/inked in black, these would appear on the upper side of the helmet if reversed and are quite big. Possibly soldiers serial number? The cover shows a good bit of wear and fading though remains is in good solid condition.
Condition overall is excellent. A fine looking and scarce unit marked combat worn helmet.
