A COLLECTION OF OVER 50 WW1 BUTTONS BOTH ALLIED AND CENTRAL POWERS COLLECTED BY A CHAPLAIN DURING THE SALONIKA AND EAST AFRICA CAMPAIGNS

A collection of over 50 buttons gathered by Chaplain P. E. Hook when serving in H.M. Hospital Ship Neuralia in the Mediterranean during the Great War. Most mounted on printed cards announcing the times of Roman Catholic Services on board the ship, and with handwritten ink descriptions as to their type and origin. The majority collected during the Salonika Campaign and include many of the nations fighting during the campaign, both allied and Central Powers:

Turkish, Austrian, French, Serbian, German, Bulgarian, Greek Army and some unidentified buttons. Also one card marked East Africa campaign that includes Belgian Askari and German See Battalion (Marines). Finally two Greek Army cap badges.

Buttons a in various conditions; the majority of which could be cleaned up if wished but a few are poor. Some scarce buttons included in this group.
