Vaulted, 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class screwback and maker marked L/52 to reverse.
The backing plate screws onto a post on the reverse. At the 12 o’clock position, a small post is built into the cross’s back that helps attach it on a tunic.
Cross has certainly been worn, showing some ageing to the paint and a nice patina to the rest. It is a nice piece, probably of officer quality.
