BRITISH EMPIRE MEDAL, (MILITARY) G.VI.R., 1ST ISSUE, ON LADY’S BOW RIBAND ‘W/173869 PTE. JOAN PRATT. A.T.S.’ DEFENCE AND WAR MEDALS. Mounted as worn with A.T.S. badge.

B.E.M. London Gazette 1 January 1945. The recommendation from 7 September 1944 states:

“This L/Cpl has served in “ST”, HQ, Western Comd for two years, and for five months of that period has been taking the place of a senior NCO in the branch. Although only a junior NCO, she has accepted 6the duties and responsibilities of the higher rank with willingness and cheerfulness, and performed them with exemplary efficiency. Her turnout and bearing and her devotion to duty have at all times provided an example to those whom she has come into contact.”
