AFGHANISTAN 1878-80, CLASP, KANDAHAR ‘B/732. PTE. J. SHERGOLD. 66TH. FOOT.’

Private James Shergold is confirmed with the clasped medal and noted as ‘Duty in Fort 1st September 1880’ (Kandahar). This suggests he was either one of the survivors of Maiwand or one of the small part left at Kandahar with Lieutenant Edwards when the battle took place.
