William Burden Gellatly, a 26 old French Cleaner from Perth, Scotland, enlisted into the 96th Company Imperial Yeomanry as a Private on 4 March 1901. Noting previous service with the 1st VB Queens Royal West Surrey Regiment, he was appointed Lance Sergeant on 4 September 1901. Serving in South Africa between 12 April 1901 and 30 August 1902, he was discharged from service on 7 September 1902. The QSA medal with 5 Clasps was his only medal entitlement.

The 96th (Metropolitan Mounted Rifles) Company Imperial Yeomanry was raised in 1901 Company and formed part of the 24th battalion Imperial Yeomanry.

Condition, Rank and possibly initials officially corrected, otherwise VF. Sold withy copy service papers.
