Just over 14,000 British Crimea medals were awarded to Sardinian/Piemontese troops. However with the Sardinian Expeditionary Corps amounting to 18,000 men, the Sardinian Crimea medal was produced to compensate for the inadequate supply of British Crimea medals for Sardinian veterans. In the region of just 4,000 Sardinian medals were produced.

Condition VF, a little edge wear, impressed naming, with original suspension and ribbon. A very scarce medal in its own right but somewhat rare to find named to an Officer.
