The husband and wife 2nd Boer War pairs to Lieutenant and Quartermaster D. Dallas, Royal Army Medical Corps and Nursing Sister Isabella P. Marshall, Cape service.

Medal rolls for Q.S.A/K.S.A. list Lieutenant and Quartermaster D Dallas as serving with 16th Stationary and 24th Field Hospital during the Boer War. Q.S.A. roll lists Nursing Sister Isabella Marshall (Colonial Cape) serving with 16th Stationary Hospital. K.S.A. roll lists her under Civil Nursing Staff and states her name ‘now Mrs D. Dallas’.

Presumably the couple met while serving at 16th Stationary Hospital at Elandsfontein and were married during or shortly after the Boer War. Quartermaster Dallas had previous to this served with General Buller’s force during the relief of Ladysmith.

Army Medical Journal lists Quartermaster D Dallas as born 7 June 1854, being promoted Quartermaster on 17 April 1895 and having served in South Africa from 30 November 1899.
