SOUTH AFRICA 1877-9, CLASP, 1879 ‘TROOPR H. W. RODGERS, LYDENG. RIFLES.
Captain Corrie of the Lydenburg Rifles was the author of the book, The Promised Land, 1884. In it he gives a graphic account of the Second Campaign of the Second Sekukuni War (1879) and of the assault on the Sekukuni’s Stad, 28 November 1879, in which the Lydenburg Rifles took a prominent part.
106 medals issued to the Lydenburg Rifles; 102 with clasp ‘1879’; 47 returned to Woolwich/Mint.
